Investing has become all about index funds as of late. But that may not be the most reliable strategy, especially during the next downturn. "When everyone says something is the way to go, my little antenna goes up," said Consuelo Mack, host of "Consuelo Mack WealthTrack," which enters its 14th season on Friday on public television. "A hallmark of great investors is that they don't follow the herd." Mack also noted the many changes in investing since her show first aired in July 2005. "The major change has been passive investing and high frequency trading," she said. "Indexing has become the default option for financial advisers."
